    Default First Laser Alert!!

    Holy shyt,

I thought my cell phone was freaking out and started ringing uncontrollably. I bought my X50 in February and the other day I was sitting at a red light when ALL HELL broke loose. The signal continued for about 3 seconds and stopped. I never saw anything on either side of the road and never saw the trap! Amazing.

Maybe it's some nutter like us with a cell jammer?

    Oh wait "laser alert"...

I thought the phone was nuts...

My Uniden LRD 9000W would always laser false often if the sun hit it just right. Really F*cking annoying, you're crusing at a solid 120km/h on a expressway with a 70km/h limit and "baaaH" "holy crap what the F was that!!" "Nope just the sun".... :grr.

Eventually I put a tie-wrap to it and to the sunvisor so I could fold it down when it alerted, which oddly enough usually meant I should put down the visor. "Visor Alert - a Uniden Innovation"?

    Default Clarification......

When the RD alerted to 'laser', it sounded JUST like my cell phone ring and I answered my phone. The problem was that the noise didn't stop!

However, I must say that the X50 has been damn good to me as I bought it right after I bought my new '05 Mazda Tribute in March. I now have over 10k on the Tribute and numerous 'saves' on the freeway between Albuquerque and El Paso and the other I-40 / I-25 drives I make each week.

Great RD and I just used the 'reset' trick mentioned on another post and I have the version 5.

You could always change your ringtone, like kids do every day.

Just becasue you don't see them DOES NOT mean they can't see you.

Also I like the one about the Cell jammer.

Cell phone jammers dont send laser alerts. But it does send the passport into self cal mode. But anyway certain cars with led tailights make rd's send a laser alert.

Maybe it was a person with a laser gun. They could of seen your
radar detector and were behind you and did it just to piss you off.
