I've done a bit of searching on the multanova and still need advice on how best to detect them.
All the Western Aussie's can testify to the fact that the multanova 6F is the WA Police Force's favourite revenue raising tool. Handheld radar isn't often used in metro area's because they've bought a heap of LIDAR guns in recent years so I'm only really concerned about Ka band.
Multanovas are 34.3 GHz Ka band and are put on a roughly 45 degree angle across the road. They're slightly angled into the ground to reduce the radar bouncing off objects in front of them which makes them even harder to detect. They operate over about 4-5 lanes max with a transmit power of typically 0.5mW.
I've read that mouting the detector on a 90 degree angle increases detection range somewhat. Has anyone ever tested this?
What detectors are most likely to perform well against it?
Out of the budget range of detectors (Bel 795, whistler Pro-58 etc.) would perform the best?
Cheers
