    Default Beltronics RX65 - Acura TL 2005

All - I bought an RX65 from Roy. It seemed to be working okay until a couple days ago. I was following my wife, in her minivan and she started to slow down. My detector wasn't making a noise. About .75 miles later, mine started chirping a bit and then went crazy. About .5 miles later, there was the radar, K, on one of the speed display boxes. Long story short, we swapped detectors and drove the route again and she got the detection about .5 earlier than I did with her detector.

This leads me to believe that there is no problem with the detector, but maybe there is a coating on my TL window? Anyone heard of that? How can I fix, or unfix this?

The detector is not mounted behind any tint or anything.

    Thanks,
    Brian

Yep probably a metallic tint in the windshield of the TL. Does the owner's manual speak of a special "window" for the RD to see through?

I looked and didn't see anything. Called my salesman and he is checking into the "issue" for me. I am googling Athermic now to see if I can find anything.

Anyone know if you can get a remote mount for it?

    Thanks,
    Brian

Nothing really exists that will take your 65 and mount it outside, though you can always do that and hack up the display to put inside. Or buy a remote RD like a Bel RX75.

Or smash your window with a brick and get a cheap replacement :P

I have a 2004 Acura TL and my radar detector works fine, I do not think your windsheild is the problem. I have used escort solo2 , X50 and V1 without a problem, yes there is a slight green tinit in the windows, but my sensitivity and detection has not been a problem

agian this is a 2004 TL, i would think that 2005 is not much different in window tinting. might want to consider the detector being faulty. sure you would know if that is the case by trying it in another car.
