    Default v1 install on 2004 4runner

I realize this isn't the best install ever but I like it, V1 with concealed display able to be hidden away very easily.

whether it looks like it or not, that wire isn't going anywhere!

the compartment with the concealed display is able to shut completely closed. i realize many of you like them to be closer to eye view range however I use it based more on the beeps and braps than anything else.

It looks like the blue tint on top of your windshield is obsructing the radars view, make sure its not doing that at all

it looks like the clear type with no metal in it....

to test find a radar false at your local walmart mount it under the tint and see where it first detects the false.

obviously do this when its closed and with no other people or cars about.

then mount it behind the tint and repeat the test!

you can also test the laser, use a tv remote and see how far away it will detect it, then mount it behind the tint band and repeat the test.

if it does affect the detection in the repeat tests then you will be able to see how many meters or feet the tint band knocks off laser or radar detection range....

You only need to worry if the tint band has metallic flakes in it. You could call toyota and ask them if your tint band is metallic, if so just move it down right below the band, if not its fine where it is.

i'd mount it higher just to get a better glance at it when it starts alerting, I also recommend you tap into an actual wire so you don't mess up the little connector inside the fuse block

i think somebody on here did this before, you can also use an existing fuse if you havent got any spare places left..

thanks for the post "get it done".. do you have it attached to the passenger sun visor? I only have a slight painted tint on mine so as far as your thread was concerned, I do not believe it will mess up my radar reception. I also bought the laser shield and installed them today, hope they actually work :/. Thanks for the link to your thread, I appreciate the help.
