So i had quite a bit of driving today with a lot of questions being stirred and some findings that people may find of some use.
I started out in mankato minnesota, made my way through the cities and onto 94 east to menomonie. then from there back on 94, to 694 around the cities, back on 94 and up to st. cloud. after that, back from st. cloud on 94 again, then all over through st. paul. then from there, i went back home to mankato touching 94, 35, 494, and 169.
to start off, i'm using a V1 3.851. the majority of the time, i had it set on big L, in the areas that have no establishments around, i went ahead and switched to A.
I hit construction on 169 north to the cities, and i noticed that there were construction vehicles giving off K band. Once on 494/94E, i can say that i'm impressed with the range. i picked up nearly full signal from a cruiser at least 1/2 mile behind me, probably more. I also came across a crash site with a rolled over semi. there were at least 4 state trooper vehicles. i picked up on their parked vehciles all facing the same direction i'm going about 1 mile back. this section of 494 had quite a bit of turns and hills, and it was still picking up quite well. I believe it was K band, but not positive.
as i was heading towards and on my way back from st. cloud on 696/94 west, there were several over passes that i went under about 10-15 miles north of st. paul. two for sure, maybe one more, they gave off an x band warning. the first one i went past had a state trooper sitting on top, and the arrows switched in accordance to the underpasses as i went by them. as far as i know, there werent any establishments anywhere near the over passes, what else could have been giving that off?
i'm also starting to wonder if the police/state troopers/sheriffs patroll the major highways.... at all. on the open road, i didnt get scanned ONCE. i was cruising at 15mph over at all times when traffic allowed, and i didnt get scanned once the entire time. other than the crash site, and the one officer with his lights on just passing by, i didnt pick up any signal on the major highways and freeways.
sorry for the rambling, 3:20 in the morning after that much driving, too damn tired to be posting on here
