Default A little help with a radar/laser detector ?, what one should

Hey guys I want to get a radar/laser detector, any recommendation and is it better to get a built in one or the one that attaches to the windshield, I want something good so I can see these dam cops, because here they are getting really good at hiding and a lot of crazy under cover cops, so I want to have the edge  , is there a radar/laser detector that also comes with a gamer, because they cant give me a ticket for something that they cant find.

So can you guys please recommend a radar/laser detector with or without a gamer? What’s better the build in one or the one on the windshield…. And how deep should I be reaching in my pocked???? i would really like one that is built in to the bumper and can do gaming tooo. but for now a good one will do, i want something that at least last's me a few years, if not more. thanks up dateable one would be a +
thx guys and look forward to ur rep.

i think you mean JAMMING radar signal, the only one that currently works is the Scorpion XP and it's about $1500  you're better off with just any of the top 3 radar detectors, (i choose the x50 because of less falsing and good Ka&K band detection)

    Gaming? Do you mean jamming?

Instead of me giving recomendations, I can only suggest researching different products and educating yourself to the capabilities/ limitations of radar/laser detectors to learn what they are designed to do.

many people think they are "Police detectors" which they are not in any way!

Radar/laser detectors only alert oyu to the presence of microwave raidation in frequencies used in speed detection equipment, so if the radar unit is not being operated by the cop, your detector will not alert you to his presence.

And what do you plan on using to protect yourself against Vascar, Pace, And the almighty Visual estimate? A dtector does not make you ticket proof! And many people have gotten tickets that they normaly would not have gotten by thinking that way.

OK so if you want a concealed system that is built into the car check out this one
    http://www.radarbusters.com/products/escort/sr7.asp
the more expensive option (called the Pro) on it comes with a laser JAMMER. Just so you know radar jammers are illegal and don't even work well or at all so the jammers you here people talking about on here are for laser jamming. If i where you however i would get either a V1, Rx65, X50 all of them are winsheild moounted detectors but are better then the concealed unit. Not only are they cheaper but they peform better. Concealed unit or normaly just for use in areas where radar detectors are illegal (if you live in one of those areas Get the beltronics STi it is the only undetectable radar detector). Anyway you mentioned a jammer before if you want one (that is a laser jammer) I would recomend the AntiLaser it is the best laser jammer on the market right now. So if laser is used in you area then you should get the Antilaser. Also check out radarbusters.com to learn more about radar and laser protection. If you have any questions feel free to post them here i would be happy to help. Welcome to the Forums.

I would not advise getting a concealed system because your sensors will be placed in your grille, and at that low of a position, you will lose radar detection range. I suggest you read these two links.

Hey all you guys have really good write ups, and I don’t have a clue on what “Vascar, Pace, And the almighty Visual estimate” and how I would protect my self from those, in my area I have to worry about mostly every band including laser, however I currently own a Vector LR performance Specs radar detector it comes with Shadow Technology 2 I don’t know what that is, this works really well and I have been using it for about 4 years now and I think its getting out dated, because there are time I see cops on the side of the road with there radar gun and my radar detector is not beeping or anything. Thus leading me to believe that its outdated. I really liked this unit.
I have been told that jamming does work but I was not too sure if it’s a good option or not, I don’t mind the windshield mounted radar detectors its just that I was told that the built in ones work better and are updatable, thus hoping it will last me a long time.
The only one that catches my attention is the V1 but its been around for some time now so I wonder is it soon to be outdated to or is it something that will last me for a long time like my old unit?
Is the V1 updatable? Are there better ones then that, that you can recommend I will be using my radar detector for all its purposes (I think) I do a lot of highway and city driving.
You guys have way too much information on radars thus is why I’m asking for help because when I read up on these units I don’t even know what half that stuff means and what it is good for, and would I be needing it or not… thus once again I’m lost. So I seek help from people that have tried it and like it? thanks again for all your help and input.

Well just to point something out, not everytime that you see a radar gun is it on and emiting radar. Also getting any of the top three detectors will be a vast improvement over your current model.

Just for your information also..... I have heard that Laser Jamming is Illegal in BC. You might want to check on that. These other people can tell you that the AL G8, which is probably the best Diode laser jammer there is, doesnt display (or at least it should not) an error message on the police officers laser gun. That would be to your benefit if laser jamming is indeed illegal where you are. Radarbusters.com doesnt sell any "crappy" radar/laser detectors. If you browse around that site long enough you will find a detector that you like. I also have the X50 red display. There isnt any difference in performance between red and blue, it just costs more to make the blue LED's in that detector. That's a common asked question that I just wanted to squash right away should you ask it. Alot of people get the blue display because it looks cooler, thats all. I have talked to people who have the V1 and dont like it, thats the main reason I got the X50. I was thinking V1 also just as you are now, because I thought that having the arrows that tell you where the threat is was kinda cool. That just isnt enough for me to get it though because of the things I have heard about. You can start a fight in this forum very easy by just saying that!!! Hope thats not what I will do though, it's all just personal prefrence.
The different things he was talking about earlier however were things like Vascar (Visual Average Speed Computer And Recorder) which is a programmed computer that measures speed, by dividing distance traveled by the time it took to travel the distance. You find these used in helicopters and cop cars. They just mark 2 points and measure, thats all there is to it, your detector WILL NOT SEE THIS. Only your 2 eyes and common sense will see this trap. Alot of areas its easy because you can see the big white lines that go across the road. Any more questions just post and I am sure you will get good responses back, alot of people on here know what they are talking about and will not steer you wrong.
