Does vibration impact detection?

Here's something to ponder. I've read a few posts recently with reference to certain mounting positions resulting in the detector vibrating from the road and/or strong bass from the stereo. I personally saw some pretty crazy vibrations from the Cobra I was playing with a few months ago. (Anywhere from 1-4mm of travel at the display end.) Clearly this isn't going to be good for the electronics. Additionaly I'm wondering if the motion of the antenna affects it's ability to receive incoming signals. Thoughts?

Yeah, good question. I was wondering this too since the X50 is pretty long and does bounce around a little. I wasn't thinking detecton ability but more of a longevity issue.
Anyone know if vibe can cause these problems?

I'd imagine the effect of the incoming radar signals will be minor from an antenna standpoint.

Now, how good it is for the detector itself... well I run over some pretty nasty bumps that shakes mine, and potholes that are unavoidable on occasion, and havent broken it yet.

Maybe tiny rubber bumper feet or something would help.

As far as a detection standpoint, it doesn't hurt it and most detectors are unaffected, however long periods of rattling can cause damage to not only the detector but whatever it is hitting against.
