    Default Changing display color...

ive never really torn apart a detector before but im guessing becaue of escort, that they are illumiated by LEDs.... any one ever swap out for new LEDs of the color of your choice? because its complete bull that blue leds cost more then red, simply a marketing scam by escort and i wanted to see how extensive it would be.

i know with the escorts they have a colored lense also, and im planning on getting a bel rx65 or rx55 and want to to know if thye have the same lense....

Blue are slightly more expensive. There are 280 LED's in the display. Hope you can solder good!

    THEORY:

Maybe you could take the WHOLE display board of an X50 Blue and mount it on a RX-65, as long as the pins line up it should be ok, even them you cound just extend a few with some small wires

NOT ADVISED, but just a little theory from me

Blue LEDs do cost more to make than Red ones, it also takes more power to run than a red one, current (Amps) wise, maybe (I believe)

yea, I'm wondering if we could find who manufacturers the 250 dot matrix LED boards, and just buy them direct

is it the little ones that cost more? because my brothers bought 100 10mm red blue and white leds all for the same price for his bike.....

im going to make a side question to avoid making a new thread... with the smart cord, there's and led that flashes when the detectors alerted, is their anyway to run another larger led to another location thats in direct view of me... because sometimes im driving along and i dont hear it over my music. i would have to have it hard wired ofcourse, but is it possible to get an old smart code, and cut it open, because it should have a little 20/22g wire running from that LED

i bet you could as long as you tap into the right wire, but what i'm thinking to do is just get the smart hardwired cord and mount it near the dashboard so I can see the led blink and mute it fast too if it's a false

Without opening a new thread I too have a question:

Has anyone ever thought of instead just battling over blue LED's thinking about other colors?

For example, when I ordered my V1 Remote Display Multi-colored LED from lifespeed I had the strength meter changed to the first two green then two yellow and then the remaining 4 red. What I notice is when the V1's auto sensor (Display Brightness) is at its lowest setting at night the green is by far the brightest of all the others. And when it is at it brightest setting ( in the daytime) Green is still the winner. Now I don't know about Blue simply because the only Blue one is for Laser, but I think green would withstand direct sunlight.

    Any thoughts?
