    Default Canada: OPP and SQ

Is it a sure thing to eventually get caught by the OPP/SQ with their RDD, using a Valentine V1 v1.8 or X50? Beltronics Sti Driver are sooo expensive. :?

    Thanks for your inputs.

It's not a sure thing, you just have to be careful, and put your unit on a toggle switch within quick reach of some sort so that you can turn it off without alerting the officer..Whatever unit you decide, you will have to hardwire it so that your install is stealth..

Well if you can afford V1, then just push a bit further

Careful use, you won't have a problem. Turn it off often, and hide it in case of a problem.

x2, the V1 is 400 (Ive heard 425 from some sources too, but I doubt it somehow), just cough up the extra 50 (or 25) bucks for "total" stealth protection

Yeah if you talk to Roy you might be able to get a good deal. If you have a V1 or X50 /etc sitting around, well might as well use it - but if you are in the market for a new unit, go STI. The peace of mind is very very nice IMO.

looks like after reading alot in this forum that the Sti is the way to go. ONLY thing that I am trying to find a good mounting location for the unit on my motorcycle? I live in Ontario where of coarse they are illegal and I am wondering if they have a remote somehow to get it out of plan sight? the HUD looks a bit promising! not sure which way to go just yet! Thanks.

It is not 100% sure , but in some circumtances you could be cooked.

Like if you are few cars on the road , when a Leo thinks you could be the one but he is not sure , one tactic he could use = take a large advance and ambush patiently = by the time you forget about him and turn the unit back on = Bingo here is your friend

Never underestimate the other side ... and live longer...

Sti is the only way to go....asks Roy

Thanks for the replies. I don't own a RD yet but looking on ebay atm for
like new cheap units (V1, X50, STi Driver). Might as well buy a new one
because they are very expensive for used units. :?

I don't usually speed but I have a fast car and sometimes by distraction I
can go over the limit pretty fast.

If you get cought here with a RD it's 500$ to 1000$ fine + they keep your
    RD. I don't know what determines if it's a 500$ or 1000$ fine.
Must be after a few offenses

Exactely in Q , my ticket was $500 + $ 111 fees . If I have been an American , they would confiscate the rd but you could claim it back thru a special demand...I don't know if one is from other province ...?
