Actually, Mike Valentine and his father founded Cincinnati Microwave Inc. in 1976.
Seems to me this Mike Valentine character is a pretty smart cookie. He knew the national speed limit would one day come to an end; spelling the end of high priced radar detectors. So he got out of CMI and eventually formed Valentine Research to make the V1, a premium radar detector but on smaller scale.
So what im getting from this, what was left of CMI when it went bankrupt in the min 90's was bought and formed into Escort Inc. which eventually bought Bel-tronics ltd. :?: :?:
This is all the information you will ever need to know about the Cincinnati Microwave Inc. bankruptcy, Beltronics bankruptcy, Escort Inc., and the Beltronics/Escort merger.

ok so CMI was going to be bought by Beltronics but they turned down the deal and became Escort Inc. and then in a reverse move bought beltronics a couple of years later.
