I use cingular which uses GSM (global system for mobile); i was wondering if this would set off a radar detector once i get one soon.
Cingular and T-Mobile are the current GSM users in the country, everyone else uses TDMA.

the rest use CDMA, AT&T wireless was the only TDMA carrier, since merged with cingular, where there are still some TDMA customers left, they're trying to updgrade them to GSM, and it'll eventually be phased out
sorry ... CDMA it is.
And then of course is the nasty nextels w/ iDen
My phone never set off my RD's but then again, I rarely use the phone...
well, is it a GSM phone? (what carrier is it?)
It was the mobile phone system that is used in europe and asia, CDMA and TDMA was developed in Mexico, Canada and the USA.Originally Posted by Lucky225
GSM is better at data transfer than *DMA's.
It runs on a different frequency ranges.
I'm on Cingular ( GSM Network ) and I have never had any issues with my X50. I've heard of cell phones setting off detectors but I myself have never experienced it. I was on Sprint ( CDMA ) a year ago and I never had any problems with it either.......
CDMA AFAIK. GSM is mostly in Europe, Bel Euro units have a filter for GSM frequencies.Originally Posted by Lucky225
