I live in the UK and have a SNooper-S5r, soon to be replaced by a Val 1 or a Beltronics 550 euro. Theres ALOT ofstuff in the UK that falses on the K band, and the Snooper is no expection, it does false a fair bit at door openers especially.
Now, im no electronics expert but i have a few suggestions that i do not know WHY no radar detector manufacturer has done yet
1)Door openers are on the same band right? The same frequency? Exactlt the same frequency or 'near'. There must be a difference, even a subtle one to allow some radar detectors to react more to traffic lights, door openers that others. Why not, when you come across a false alarm have a buton on the radar detector that 'learns' that this particular reception that its getting is a false alarm. . .so you can teach it what is and what isnt a real threat.
2)OK, if thats not do-able, why not introduce GPS into the equation. It could be constantly tracking your location, so, when you enter and area where false alarms are prominent, you could push a button and have the detector log you co-ordinates and the alarm, so, when you re-enter the area, it 'auto-mutes' the detector. Eventually you could have a detector that you can rely on ALOT more. . . .
One may say, yeah, but what if it auto mutes in an area where there are false alarms, and it auto mutes you to a threat you should have known about. Well, If its anything like the bogey counter on the Val one, it could learn how many are around a certain area and if there becomes one more, it alerts you. . . . . besides, the may problems are in urban areas anyway where you wouldnt speed usually anyway with so many false alarms around usually. . . ..
