Default Highway vs. City (V1 vs. RX65)

I know this is debate with no solid answer but as I'm preparing for my cross-country drive, I seem to be getting conflicting advice. Roy recommends the RX65 as his top pick (and with Ku in the US it seems to edge out the X50) and part of this seems to be because of filtering. Many of the posters on these boards swear by their V1s for highway driving and don't seem to think it's much trouble in cities (and trumps all others). Has anyone tried both? Anyone have a thought on this particular debate? Will the V1 false to often? Are people just living in the past with the V1 and not giving the RX65 a fair shot? Thanks to all!

In all honesty you cant go wrong with either one. Let features and driving style be your determining factor. The area where the V1 has a CLEAR advantage is Laser detection.

I have both, and I feel more comfortable with the V1 for highway driving. But if you can, try them both out yourself and see what you like best. You could send back the one you don't like...

Many people will come in and said they tried both but there are only 4 I would listen to: Bob(TheVeilGuy), Happya$$, Sethy, Jimbonzz

These guys have done extensive testing and for their needs they like the V1..but
-Happy's wife uses the Escort X50 use to be the RX65....
-Bob had his own detector test you might want to check out here...
-Sethy uses the Escort X50 and the V1
-Jim has the V1 in one car and the RX65 in another
Exscort X50 is the same detector as the BEL Rx65 +/- a few features
    V1 does have Ku-band too
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For your journey of mostly middle of no where driving i would go with the V1...you will not need the added filtering (in my opinion)...plus there will be little falses in the area you are driving...I hardly run into any false on the highways i drive on. But then again i never drove where you are planing to go...the BEL RX65 is a great detector for the allaround driving. Just make sure you change the mode when you go from city driving to highway driving with both detectors..With either detctor you will not be dissappionted with the range however you might be dissappionted with the Laser sensitivity of the BEL but yet laser falses on the BEL are not common as the V1

Also i would recommend VEIL and Laser shield front plate cover

Here is an EXCELLENT review of the big three

    http://www.laserveil.com/en/ultimate.../introduction/

This review is as honest as it gets. The BEST advice I can give someone is to try the detectors themselves and keep the best one that makes them happy. You have 30 days to try each one. I know that it is a pain to try them then send back the ones that you dont like but in the end it will be worth it TRUST me. There is a reason why I own the X50 an V1. They both are great and have special features that won me over.

Ask the guys that drive cross country in rallies and road races (The Gumball, Cannonball, Ultimate Road Rally and other midnight runs)...

They run under the Valentine One Umbrella, among other laser jamming equipment.

False signals? Overrated and Overdone by members here. Think of it like Abu Grahib... totally blown out of proportion and just ignore the hype.

You can't go wrong with any of the top 3 or 4 radar detectors. Basically, it's what you can afford... and many people can't afford $400.00.
