* First of all I have no idea what section to put this post in. It isn't radar detector related, but it is still police enforcement related, so I'm just posting it here. If a mod knows were to post this please move it. Thank you.
Wouldn't it be nice if there was some law out there were if you pay an extra tax you will not get pulled over for speeding? Speeding enforcement is used as an income source, so why not make it an income source this way?
How about you pay an extra tax to be allowed to drive as fast as you want, without the worry of being ticketed for speeding? How does that sound?
I think there should be some rules with that though. Like there should be some sort of license involved to prove you can drive safely at higher speeds, and if you go beyond a certain speed and crash you are liable (kind of like how Germany is).
That way the government gets its cash, we get to drive faster, and everyone is happy.
Is this idea insane, or does it sound reasonable? 8)
edit: oh btw I forgot to mention: I was thinking about this law in the form of freeway/highway/expressway only. (at least in california. other states might have other things.) No matter how good of a driver you are going 100mph in a 25mph zone is extremely dangerous because of others around you. So when I wrote this up I was thinking freeway mainly.
