Having used my Bel v840 for a couple of month's now I am , for the most part, pleased.
I have noticed on Ka that rarely, even when pretty much point blank, seen it go full bars more than once or twice.
I have seen others posting questions prior somewhat questioning their RD's Ka performance, but I have not really seen it explained. So my question is, are certain Ka guns more powerful (so to speak) than others?
I have seen pretty good range with my v940 but other times the Ka signal the v940 reports appears weak, as opposed to K.
An example of what I have experienced occurred today. I was coming around a right hand curve when the v940 chirped up Ka about 2 bars momentarily then came up basically constant on. It appeared he instant-on'd a car ahead then left it on. This was a LEO coming at me at about 1/4 mile. As I came around the curve I sighted him with his Ka on until he passed me. Upon passing me the report on the v940 was at 4 bars. I would think it would be pegged full but wasnt.
I am not complaining because this was a legitimate save but I am perplexed as to why it didnt max out. I would appreciate any insight anyone may have. Is this normal?
