Default How do i use the old Fuzzbuster III

I recently bought this ancient Fuzzbuster III and I'm not sure if im using it correctly. It has a single nob that I can rotate till a light comes on and an uterly annoying squeel (like a cat dying backwards) is projected from it. Does anybody know how to use one?

IIRC, you turn the knob tell it starts squealing and then back off just a bit. It's sort of like a squelch control.

BTW, what are you planning on doing with the F'buster III :?:

The knob is for sensitivity. When on a highway turn it until it just stops squawking, in city turn it down as you wish.

This is an OLD unit, X and K bands only. I would not suggest using this, it will drive you nuts and you can still get busted easily.

You know if you line up enough of those on your dashboard you may be able to jam police radar! 8)

actually this may be closer to the truth then you might think..Police use to confiscate "hidden detectors" exactly like these because these detectors by the way they operate will alter a police radar signal just a bit and police that were smart enough to figure out why this happened would pull over suspect cars carrying these radar detectors...True story!

someone should line up about 10 of these side by side and see if it might work! You couldn't be accused of jamming police radar because these are legal detectors and as far as I know there is no law that says how many radar detectors you can operate at one time.... 8)

Squelch out the background noise and hope you don't run into Ka or Laser.

actually, you can jam a radar gun by firing another radar gun back at it, which would be perfectly legal for us hams to do. Can't say the police would like it too well, but they can't do anything about it as it's governed by the FCC.
