Posted this here in this section since it does pertain to RDs but if a mod wants to move it that's fine 8)
Well I was noticing the range and performance of my Pro-73 was starting to be affected pretty bad and I wasn't getting the range on the falses and on real radar like I use to. At this same time I noticed my Sirius satellite radio (hooked up to the same power wire coming out of switch) was also having performance issues.
So last night I re-wired my Sirius to be directly wired to the fuse box on it's own power wire and found a fuse for my switch/rd that only comes on when the key is in the ON position.
Well after doing that today I went out driving around and the Pro-73 was picking up like it never had before! I was picking up crapras further away than I use to (don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing ), and I was picking up real police radar further away and better. Even when the radar was facing away from me (Sheriff's office with police cruiser, still had his radar on) I was picking it up way further than I use to.
So lesson learned here:
If you are thinking about hardwiring something else to the same wire as your RD, Don't unless you notice no difference in performance. I didn't notice any performance hit at first but over time I did start to notice it degrading.
