Default Is my car hard to target?

I have heard that the bigger the car or the more shiny it is the more easy it is to be target by laser. Does any one know if the white 1998 Lexus ES300 is easily targeted by laser or radar? What should I do to prevent from being hit spending less then $50? Currently I have a 2 MASS plates on it and a Radio Shack detector which is supposedly has X, K , KA bands and Laser though that alarm has never went off. Also does the sides of the car matter because didnt they usually target the front and back?

How do you post pictures from your hard drive?

    Thanks

I take it is the same as this??

Id say YES it is easy if not easier than any other car out there, it has big headlights and a nice big wide front end.

You cant get speed checked from the side only the front or back.

I suggest selling the radio shack detector and get somthing like a Beltronics, Escort or V1 as you will get far more range than the detector you have, the other day i got around 2 mile alert from a police radar on my Beltronics.

If you have any other questions please dont hesitate to ask.

    Cheers

Yes it is the same but mines white colored. How did you post pictures on line mine is very confusing like i think you need some computer code?
but anyways what would you recommend I do? and I checked the V1 very expensive kinda out of my budget. What would you recommend, maximum upgrades for $100.

    Thanks

hey integra, even with the best equipment, its hard to be 100% stealth. that said, with your car type and color, and not wanting to spend over 50 bucks, you will probably be even worse off due to having a false sense of security.

what ya do to post pics is get the address of the pic, it will look somthing like this; http://www.auto-broker-magic.com/images/925.jpg

copy this link then click on the Img button up the top of the reply window then paste the link in the reply window and click the Img* button again it will look like this in the reply window

The end result will be this

I think you would be better off spending the money on a decent detector rather than Veil... just look on ebay for a Bel 990 or 995 or 998 or simalar, you can get them on ebay for about the 100 mark and will give you 20 times better detection than your current detector.

    Good luck

Not trying to be annoying but the Beltronics 900 995 and 998 are pretty expensive for my budget and even on ebay they are about $200 or more. So I went to circuit city online to find some real brand devices.

    Cobra® Radar/Laser Detector (XRS9430) $79.99
    Cobra® Laser/Radar Detector (XRS-7330) $39.99
    Beltronics Radar/Laser Detector (V940) $159.99

What do you think about the Cobras? they seem to have the same features as the Bel but they cost less. Is that Bell really that good?

    Thanks Alot For Your Help

First off do some searches and back reading here and you will find a Cobra is best as a paper weight. If you are going to put your trust in speeding risking a $180 or so ticket then don’t do it on something so marginal.

I say drive the speed limit until you can save enough to get a decent RD.

Seems funny to drive a Lexus and only have a Cobra budget.

$50 for laser protection... not looking very good for you.

The only thing that I could see would be (LS) LaserShield ($20), but even that with your car, your SOL.

I would put that extra 50 and look for a better detector.

The Whistler Pro-58 is in the 100 dollar range, and will be much better then your RS. The Bel 940 for 150 will probably have slightly better range then the pro-58... but again it costs more.

With that said... I would save up money to get a higher-end Bel or Escort.

(The V995 for ~270 comes to mind).

Well, they do often have all the same features as the Bel, many times even more features except one... detection.

    So you decide:

Do you want a radar detector, that actually detects radar... or do you want a Cobra?
