I just got a XTR 560 Ku-capable RD, and this thing falses ALL the time on Ku. It seems to work pretty good on all the other bands when Ku is disabled.
Now, the question, but first some background. There's a new bird up in the sky, Thaicom 5, transmitting on Ku. I just set up a 24" offset dish and am getting an 80 percent signal in good weather, reception is still fine even in heavy rain. Thaicom 2 and 3 are still in operation, also on Ku, and I'm smack in the middle of the footprint.
Is the detector so sensitive that it will false on this Ku saturation?
Second question, does this mean that Ku may not be feasible for speed detection in the US (assuming this is true) as most TV programming these days uses encrypted digital Ku for the cable channels?
As a side note, I'm using a 8' prime focus dish to pick up Ku programming off another bird on the horizon with a different setup, that signal needs a much bigger dish. My 12' C-band dish has been retired.
