Higher is better if you prefer to try to pick up a vehicle in front of you being hit.
Lower is better if you want the best chance for a warning of yourself being hit.
Guys,
Please excuse my nuanced answer but, here it goes:
For V1 owners: High
For X50 & RX65 owners: Low
This is what one would call a split-ticket vote.

I would also add "Wherever I want because I have a laser jammer and Veil" to the choices
why high for the V1 and low for the rest?
V1's laser detection is far superior to the other detectors. Tests have shown that with V1 mounted high, it still won't miss laser hits at close range. So, mount the V1 high: it has better line-of-sight for detecting radar, and high mounting doesn't diminish V1's laser detection capabilities.
For the other detectors (with less laser detection capability), the idea is to mount low, closer to the laser aiming point (plate or headlight) since they might not alert to a laser hit when mounted high.
Jim
so if the cop aims low at the plate number the V1 should still pick it up?
