I was curious if someone might tell me what is a good Radar Detector that comes with the compass feature?
Thanks, Aries4462

Unfortunately, all the detectors that come with a built-in compass are not very good. If you need a compass, you should buy a compass separately.Originally Posted by aries4462
After doing some reading around the forum seems like Cobra has the compass feature but not getting to many good reviews about cobra detectors. Hmmm...How about whistler??
I honestly would just go to your local store and buy a bubble one. They are way more accurate than your RD will ever be. Seeing as its only 8 point, while the ball will be a 360 degree turn.
Was looking for a RD and compass all in one but sounds like they are all junk at this time. Maybe in the future Bel or Valentine will come out with one.
Thanks
It might be a good idea to wait and see if any of the Detector manufacturers come out with anything interesting at CES next week :wink:Originally Posted by aries4462
The Whistler 1793SE has a compass with numeric headings in 5-degree increments. It's pretty reliable though requires calibration when you move the detector.
Its detection capabilities are quite competent too and way better than any Cobra unit period.
Whistler 1793 has a compass and the range is equal to that of the Pro-58, so if you really need a compass, it would be the way to go.Originally Posted by aries4462
Thanks for the information on the Whistler 1793 with compass. I might give it a try for the time being as it is at a reasonable price on ebay.
Thanks again for all the information!
This reminds me of the compass I had on my old Uniden LRD 767. I liked the compass when it was correct, but when it wasn't, it was a pain to get set just right. Yes, they are not that reliable.
