    Default Museum of RadarDetectors

I can remember my first detector hardly. It was around 1990 when I was in Cleveland, Ohio. I bought it there, it was maybe an early Cobra model. It hasn't any laser sensor and it may detect X and K band only, looked similarly as Whistler 945Euro but worked well. When I'd returned to Hungary I was very proud of this top electronics equipment. After a few days I met with a speed trap - but my detector didn't do anything! I was very disappointed. After that I've ascertained that here isn't any K band radar, the Hungarian police used Sfim Mesta 204DD radars only at that time, and they were on 9.41GHz (special X band). Oh, that old good days!
Some years later the police bought K band radars but my detector was disappeard meanwhile.

I think that it would be interesting if we could collect some of old detectors. If you have any picture/info/story, please post it here!

I used to have a Cobra that I picked up at the Whiz in Lakehurst NJ and it thought it was the cooliest thing I had ever seen it was soo sleak and modern compared with the triple band Radioshack detector I'd been using up to that point.
I think it was called some sort of shooter I think, and was grey and I think it was a metal case.

Well, I opened this threat because I just borrow from a friend of mine an 'ancient' detector.
I don't know anything about it (maybe it detect X band only) but it's still works - or rather it's alarming continuosly, but I like it.
    I take a picture yesterday.

    I like it alot.

    Cobra Trapshooter.

I have a Whistler Spectrum 2. I am very mad because it fits so nicely into my car's dashboard. But it has no Ka or laser. :x

    Default Excort/Passport 5000

Here's an old one from 1995-ish... Still running it today hardwired. (I only have it out of the car because I ordered new suction cups last night... stupid things only lasted 10 years!)

I seem to remember it being on the expensive end when I bought it, however I was also a college student waiting tables at the time too so perception is everything.

I rememer always wanting to hit up one of my engineering geek friends to hook it up so when the thing beeped it would send a cancel code to my cruise control.

    Still works great.

    * still have

    • *Modified Fuzzbuster with signal strength meter
*Fox X-K remote with Plexiglass waveguides (somewhere in basement)
      *Original Escort
Original 9V Passport - friend traded it ($50 for 8500)
      *Uniden RD9XL
      *Uniden 9100 SW
      *Cobra Superwide 4
*Passport 5000 - perhaps best RD made after metal body classics(big horn) replaced Sonalert after diaphragm broke. Of course, I waited to see if "little ones" would show up in my truck as I also have the Cobra Superwide 4 (rebadged 5000). Although she looked pregnant, no such luck
      *Whistler 975
      *R/S SWS (really small size)

I'd like to see an SML comparison of these.
