In reality, users simply want to mute areas they know the detector have a false alert in. Most of these areas don't need coverage - super mart parking lots, downtown streets (anyone speeding in these areas should get a ticket) This way when you hear an alert, you know the chances are very high its the real thing, rather then conditioning your body to hit that Mute button, I think that once you mute all false areas on your daily commutes you will take any alert from the RD much more seriously.
The 9500i mutes one signal, but what happens when multiple sources from differnt super mart stores are there, then you have to mute them as well? I think the idea is great but in reality it will not be perfect - nothing is.
