I know part of this topic has been beaten to death, and rest assured I have in fact searched and read this forum for a couple hours today. Well I definately learned allot and appreciate you all's knowledge, but I just have one or two more clarifying questions.
I live in Virginia - in the south western region (Roanoke to be exact). I read in most of the posts that pretty much every VSP around here is running either K or KA (correct?) and almost never X.
I've decided to go with the Passport 8500 X50 mainly because a guy I know is letting his go for a fairly good price. I've heard plenty of good things about this specific RD, and just about every guy in VA running one has said its done its duty well. I thought about the STi but decided I just dont want to spent that much money on a RD for now, and for the mere fact that the VSP arent really running Spectre III - so no real need for the immunity.
My main question is - when running this specific RD, are there any 'tricks' or issues I need to be aware of when using it in VA?
Also, i'd like to know a little more about the "Instant-On (Pulse) Detection" system on this RD. On another board one guy was saying that it basicaly alerts you to let you know your tagged and skrewed - basicly "you've been clocked by the cops Instant-On, good luck...". Do many of the VA cops use the Instant On radars or is that primarily in states where RD's are legal?
One last question - I know this RD wont save me from a cop using a laser to read my speed, but do many of the VSP or cops in this area use Lasers?
Any help would be great, thanks!
