Above the rear-view mirror if you can, straight, level and away from any tinting.
but then i would have the cord from the lighter to the RD haning right in front of my face, hows that gonna work?
so how would i go about mountin it up there? step by step instructions would help
sure the cord would be in your way. That's why many of us get our detectors hardwired to that the power cord comes from near where we mount it. In this case you would want the powercord to come out of the rearview mirror area. Try a search this question gets asked a lot.
Most of us do hardwire our detectors..... Here are some photos of my
installation. This will give you an idea of what we mean. I've mounted
mine high and low before. I found that high worked better
so that is where mine is currently mounted.

Here's my setup. I much prefer it over where I used to mount it... which was low.

Thats my prefered location.... V1 on the left, Belscort on the right, and at the very top left... V1's own little visor mount.
Agree w/ air moore.
