Sorry for the novel.
I received my first ticket in 7 years on Sunday. I was driving back from STL to Cedar Rapids on Highway 218. I was doing about 85, when is saw the trooper crest the hill about 3/4 mil in front of me heading toward me. I disengaged the cruise and began to slow. My RD detector (Escort 8500) was not making a noise. So I figured his radar was off. He slowed down, and crossed the median and pulled me over. 80 in a 65. I am wondering what he used to detect me.
The previous Thursday I drove from Cedar to STL on the same highway. I saw 7 Troopers and 2 County in 70 miles. (Heavily patrolled for some reason). All had someone pulled over. After the first 3 troopers I saw without my RD going off, I switched it from Auto to Highway mode. Shortly after that a county sheriff had someone pulled over, and my RD went off. I noticed that every trooper would not set my RD off, and the counties did. I figured a Speed Trap ahead. I crossed the border and notice no speed trap. I thought noting of it until I got pulled over on Sunday.
Does any one have any ideas as to why none of troopers set of my RD? Especially the one who gave me a ticket and said he clocked me at 80.
