well I can say i havent heard any plans to the like, but im not in the industry, either way though, you shouldnt go cordless, sure its big on convenience, but it makes up for it with BAD sensitivityOriginally Posted by Redline
The Escort Solo S2 is the best battery operated cordless detector that is made today. That being said, it will never come close to the performance of a top corded model like the Valentine One, STi, etc. Battery operated detectors have to be put to sleep more than half of the time to conserve batteries so they have less range, no POP protection, less sensitivity to instant-on radar, etc.
Check out the over the hill test at the bottom of the page and you will see that it is rated at the bottom in detection. You live in Canada so you probably need the STi for stealthiness.

I think you've done your homework well. The Sti should keep you from the eyes of Spectre III up there.Originally Posted by Redline
I'd be careful of the V1 in this application as the newer ones seem to have a higher leakage for some reason which may make them a bit more obvious to Spectre III. Besides, you'll need another audio box to hook a V1 up to the warning system you may use (i.e. ear-phones, helmet speaker, HARD, etc.). Then there is the possibility that it make choke once it gets too hot on the bike sitting in the sun (shouldn't be a problem being that far north though).
I've been riding HP bikes for years and never gotten a speeding ticket yet even though I routinely hit over 100-130mph on outings. Been around 30 years so far using mostly Escorts (knock on wood!). Last was in a slow car - some four-banger hamster-powered Subaru that couldn't go fast unless it was on downhill overcrossing. Can you say "Speed trap?" I can.
New silver GT seems to be a target of Leo's lately and I've had some of them go nuts looking for their Instant-On remote in the mountains - even at ridiculously slow speeds on sandy hairpins of 15mph. The CA CHP seems to like writing people for "Too fast for existing conditions" - even though the speed limit may be 55mph.
well that and the V1, as wide as it is, might make life difficult for mounting on a motorcycle....... maybe
How much i'd love to show you my STi + Magnetic tank-bag set up, Redline 8)
But posting these picturs here would be a suicide pass
If your interested in how i do it, just PM me or may be Air Moore could help you out, if he still has mine?

Thanks for all the replies. The curiosity about cordless, of course, centers around concealability on a motorcycle. I suppose that a tank bag would at least keep things covered and anything less than an STi would be suicide up here . . . .
Look forward to learning more about this. Shoulda done it years ago!
I would recommend you look into the speedcheeta vizalert. its a wireless module that links an STI to a led system that you mount to your helmet.
since the battery is very close you could easily have it hard wired in about 5 minutes.
best o luck.
