    Default Opinions...V1 or this combo?

Sorry if this is a re-hash. Been wading through the posts and haven't found exactly what I was looking for. Opinions on whether I should go with just a V1 or the combo of a Bel RX65/Passport X50 + VEIL + Laser Shield plates? I'm aware the combo would cost more. The plan is to invest in a laser jamming system down the road and a large concern is falses while city driving (heard a lot about V1 falsing). Most of what I encounter is K/KA but on my daily commute along rural highways some laser as the cops in the sticks have nothing else to do but write tickets. Opinions? Advice? Rude or sarcastic comments?
    Thanks!

If u cant afford a jammer like me right now, then yes the V1, veil/lasersheild combo is ur best bet in my opinion. V1 is the best at detecting laser. You just gotta prey the veil and lasersheild buy u enough seconds to slow down.

The ride is a silver 04 Dodge Stratus. I know...you're all laughing now saying "WHOOOOOAAAA!! Fast car, duuude! You definitely need to stack up!" LOL. Because of the price of the V1, I can't do it and the other counters together. I see a couple of votes for the RX, but it seems that a lot of people here prefer the X50. Is there a reason for the preference/difference? Also noticed a big diff in testing on the RX65 between Roy's tests and GOL. Originally was gonna go with the RX until I found this board and started reading. Again, thanks for all the help and all the great posts on the site.

Here is something better so you can get more for the $$$$. Go for the Vector 955 since it IS an RX65 minus the features (built on the same platform check the FCC ID number if you do not believe me) and buy yourself a Laser Shield and Veil. The 955 hung with the big boys in our tests. It is an AWESOME budget detector
RIP Duncan my BELOVED black lab son 8/7/99-3/23/11. I will miss you DEARLY.

cosigned. don't be fooled into thinking you're protected from laser just because you own the most expensive radar detector.

I'd agree with the others - since you do face true laser threats, you would be better off saving a bit of money by going with a top-performing "second tier" detector to address your K/Ka needs, and to bone-up on passive laser protection until you've got enough banked for good active protection (which you'll need, as your car isn't a great color for "natural stealth," nor does your large front grill and widely spaced headlamps offer you any advantages at escaping).

Eespecially with the LI nearing production-retail (and subsequent testing), this plan of action for a budget-conscious driver should be a viable alternative.

After you've addressed your active protection needs, you should then be able to again save-up for a top-tier detector to maximize your early-warning potential. But honestly, looking at how well the 955 performed versus "the big boys," you may never find this need.....

It would probably come to about the same as buying the RX65 (maybe even less?), and you'd get about the same protection radar-wise, with a little bit more laser protection. Now, you could go ahead an also buy a black car bra to buy you some more time. Even with the bra, you'd probably end up spending less than you would have for a V1

And to answer your question about the X50 vs RX-65, I think most people prefer the X50 because it has alot better "ramp up," meaning it is a bit easier to judge relative distance from the radar source. That, and it also has a better Expert meter...and is about 30 dollars cheaper
