Default Which would you sell: x50 rev5 (blue) or V1 1.8/3.826?

What say you, my rd.net buddies?

    Hello,

Depends on what type of driving you do.

    Mainly: city or highway?
    Mainly: rural or city life?

I sure like my V1 for highway driving / arrows and the bogey counter. Some people don't like how well it hears. They 'complain' it chatters too much. You get more non-LEO alerts with the V1 as it hears more as it basically covers 360 degrees while the other (x50 also) only look straight ahead.

    My vote:

V1 as it has the best range and gives me plenty of warning. Arrows and bogey counter is a must. Those alone saved me plenty of times.

X50 if you drive in the city 75% of the time and live in the 'land of malls'.

I live in the 'semi-boonies' in the largest city (28,000) of the county, the rest range from towns and villages have populations of 50 to 4000. The next city (150000+) is 35 miles or more to the east. I run the V1 in the A mode and when I get close to any larger city, move it into the little L or large L mode.

    Take care,

    Spin

I'd get rid of the V1 'hands down'.

(And thats coming from someone who actually owns both of those units).

That said... I agree with 'Spinner' each unit is better for specific purpose.

Yeah, this is a tough one. I am actually in the same situation as yourself and I decided to sell the X50. The best advice given so far is Spinner. I would follow that advice.

All depends on where you drive. Listen to spinner.

I personally think that if properly programmed the V1 isnt as "false prone" as all forum members believe. I though would have a hard deliberation between the two.

I guess it would come down to driving tendencies.

    City:X50
    Highway:V1

I did love my x50 rev 5 and regret selling it, the rev 6 seems to lag quite a bit! If it were rev.6. It would be hands down sell it but since its Rev.5 i would have to think twice.

Basically, my problems with the Valentine extend to the lack of a couple of features (automute, freq display to some extent) and the aesthetics of the unit. I do a good amount of mostly city driving, but with my usual roads, falses aren't all that much more on the V as compared to the x50.

I still like the x50 just as a bias towards it for whatever reason, hence my hesitance. Then again, from what I've seen, it appears both lab and real-world tests tend to give the V a slight edge in the majority of cases.

    Thanks for the advice/opinions.
