Default Comparing old Escort to new

I have an Escort radar detector that is about 20 years old. It seems to work well and always alerts me to the presence of speed detection on the highways.

My question is how much difference is there in the old unit to modern day units such as the 8500 or 9500? Does my older unit do essentially the same job or are the newer models far more effective?

    Thanks

Sweep speed and band coverage have improved drastically. I hate to toss the old stuff too because it cost so much but they aren't worth anything now, dollar-wise. I've hung onto some old ones for grins and trade-ins.

The K band sensitivity on those early Escorts is still pretty impressive but I think you'll find the modern units even more so, and the proliferation of Ka band means you'll want something new too.
