Default Radar gun vs radar gun?

Roy, here is a question I have had for a long time, and you have to be the right guy to ask.
What happens when a mobile radar meets another mobile radar (same frequency)? Do they jam each other? Do they alert (doppler) to each others presence? Or do the tiny frequency differences between models mean they ignore each other.
The reason for asking is that on several occasions I have seen cops here doing booze testing (I have no problems with that) but with several radars transmitting on adjacent cop cars. (V1 reports 3 or 4 K band 'bogies'), and have had a friend travelling behind me busted for speed as well as having a breath test.
My suggestion to him was to contest it as three or four KR10s in the same place would easily be classified as interference.
I have also thought that a second hand KR10 or 11 from EBay behind the grille might make an interesting K band jammer =]

    Default No effect

Well I can only speak from experience on this one

When I was a cop and I was parked with another one of my buddies that had radar in their cars, I didn't notice any interference at. In fact I can remember us clocking each other, as we would approach each other using moving radar, and have no effect.

One other item of interest. As I was an instructor in radar I would get all the latest tech guides from the dealers that would often cover the issues with police falsing, but do not remember this being one of the issues they covered.

I guess in theory there should be some effect and a good argument could be made in court.

But from my experience, I never saw any effect

This statement is the correct one.

The doppler shift used to measure speeds is only a few thousand hertz, and no two radar guns (even identical ones) transmit within a few thousand hertz of each other. Differences are usually in the tens or dozens of megahertz, so any mixing that goes on due to multiple guns in the same area would be filtered out (if the gun tried to calculate a speed from the mixing component of two guns, it would get speed readings over 10,000 mph!).

Even if you manually tuned 2 guns to be as close together in frequency as possible, you wouldn't be able to get them close enough to generate a false speed reading or jam the gun.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?
