Default Is POP a real threat?

I was wondering if POP is really being used and can you be issued a ticket from a POP radar?

I hear some people disabling the POP feature to eliminate falses

I want to make my V1 false less so wold disabling POP be advisable?

I also want to disable X band but who knows when a cop might pull out his old X band radar hehe

    Need input pls

X band is only used extensively in a few states. Ohio, The Carolina's, New Hampsire, Illinois to name a few. Most other states, the only X band you may run into is small city/county cops pulling out old equipment, or refurbishing what they have because the budget isn't there for the new Ka equipment. I don't know what is commonly used in Texas, but it's possible that small towns may still use it.

POP is used in only a couple states right now. I'm not sure about any other POP models, but on the MPH Bee III model, the user manual specifically states that a citation should not be issued based on the POP burst alone as POP guns are famous for being inaccurate because of the nature of how the gun must operate.

Disabling POP on a V1 won't buy you a whole lot. If you have noticed a bunch of weak Ka falses from other detectors then it may be worthwhile, as those will diminish. I get some, but not nough to drive me nuts. POP is supposedly used by some CT state police so it's worth it to me to keep it enabled.

X-band and K-band falses will be unaffected by disabling POP, as they come almost exclusively from automatic door openers.

Actually, I'd like to hear your thoughts on Ka falsing with your V1. Do you get many? Some days I get a few, some days I get nothing.

Detectors being Illegal in Canada, fewer people will be using them, and most pop falses come from other detectetos.

    X- it falsing all day!!!

K- could be a false but sometimes its like a schoolbus and rarely and real cop
    - it would be scary if it was a real cop and i just ignored it!

Ka- sometime i get falses, usually it beeps and points to the side or rear and i just use precaution

coming from the X50, V1 is a very very noisy radar!

    I swithc from small L to L

i like how the small L silents X first

Good points and I know what you mean f-339! I have seen that personally too! The pat answer by the v1 crazies would be ,which you obviously are not one of them 8) , is that "it falses so much because of it's high sensitivity and because it doesn't have ( tunnel vision..? what a stupid made up phrase.... )

The only trouble with a detector that falses so much is that one starts to ignore it real real fast. The other problem is that Bell and Escort have just as much sensitivity if not more and don't suffer this same problem to the degree the v1 does....

yeah falsing does suck....to a point that i just turn it off in the city.... but hey the arrows are great

it actually gives you more information and you can decide whether it is a real threat or not

with the x50 it beeps but you dont know if you have passed it

its so nice to know that you have past the sourc so you can continue on doing your biz
