    Default rx75 Installation Cost

    Hi,

I am getting my rx75 plus installed. How much should an installation cost from a good installer? Assume they do a real clean install.

well then the 400 i am being charged is just f**king me.

The car is somewhat unique. It is an ram srt-10. They had to take off some of the bumper to do a clean install and then re-assemble the front end. The install is incredibly neat.

I am happy with the work, but getting overcharged is not good.

Tough chit man. Did you get an estimate and ask around to other installers?

Don't go complaining because you didn't do your homework first. These are questions you ask BEFORE, not after.

    Lesson learned.

    Wow,

That was a really helpful post. I guess since I called 4 different installers, interviewed 3 of them and went to 2 shops that I didn't do my homework.

One installer charged 2k (that was a real high end shop). One charged 55 bucks ( that was circuit city), one charged 300 (tweeter).

Since there aren't too many independent audio stores left you tell me where to go.

    No reason to be insulting.

Donno what to tell you, circuit city sells them and installs it for $350. Installs are always going to be an overcharge, that's why you do it yourself

Sometimes you just have to pay more; i paid close to 200 bucks for my dual laser jammer install. They had to cut my front bumper and take apart the entire dash to get the cables through it took them close to three hours.

Why didn't you go with the $300, or even the $55 install??

If they gave you a written estimate of $300 - and they go over by $100, I'd tell them to eat it - or atleast go half way $50 because they did go so far over.

My bad for being an @$$, but I don't understand how you got a $400 bill when you had estimates of $55 and $300?

I know this guy said circuit city quoted him $55 -- but that was incorrect anyways, $55 is for a hardwire install for rx65's, escort 8500's, etc.. They quoted me the same thing, then when I came back for install they told me it was $350 for in-dash remote radar units such as the rx75
