Thanks Roy, we are leaving the 10th early in the morning. I hope the fire doesn't cause problems. I'll be back the 13th. You of course can reach me on my cell if you run in to problems. Will bring the laptop just in case.

I have X band off now as well as POP, is POp even used in these two states?

    Default POP

NV does have POP, but they cannot use it to write tickets.

Also they had recalled their MPH guns awhile back, still don't know if they got them

I've only had one false alarm on POP and that was from an SUV with a Cobra in the window. Just makes me dislike SUV's that much more

I think I'm more worried about the fires then the speed traps at this point. The X50 will be coming along for the ride none the less. The last drive we took to Vegas we had a helicopter land in front of us on the highway, guy had a heart attack while driving his truck (big truck). He managed to pull off the road and call for help. We just so happen to be at the front of the line. It was in the middle of nowhere, I forget the road.

    that's wild about the helicopter.
Yeah, i've been keeping an eye on the fires too.
i have 3 routes planned out. 2 through fire country and 1 around.

The most direct route is 93 straight through, but i hate going over the dam, it's so slow through there, not to mention with the added security i get stopped and pulled aside so i can open my rolltop cover.

my other options are either 93 to 40w then 95 north, or 10w to 95 north. either of those adds about 70 more miles though, but i avoid the dam and with the 10 route i think it avoids all the fires.
    We'll see.
    any other routes i missed?

well, the trip out was uneventful for the most part.
the scanner worked well, getting a heads up on a rollover 20 miles ahead, giving me open roadway with no worry of being clocked since everyone around me was responding to the call.
i'm not sure what nevada is running, but it's weak ka band. coming up on someone stopped with it on, facing away, I was pretty much on top of him before my V1 alerted, and I didn't get too far past him before the signal faded. usually I get more range than that.
other than that, not much in the way of speed traps to report.
of course vegas was fun, and the buffet at Rio was great.
I think i'll have to stop back through on the way back.
