I have now gotten a 9500i to add to my collection.
I currently drive a V1 3.851, and for my daily commute to work I only hit 4 weak false spots along the way. For my everyday commute, I love this detector. However, go through the city of Fairborn, the v1 is worthless unless I turn X off. 5-9 bogeys constantly going up and down. Unfortunatly I cant turn the X off, because Fairborn, Beavercreek, Ohio State Patrol, Clearcreek, and a lot of other places in ohio still use it.
Having said that, I drove around the 9500 for about an hour yesterday. I have never heard such a quiet detector. Running it in Highway mode, it is almost uncomfortable. Going down the Fairborn false spot, it detected 2 X band for 1/4 mile or so where as the V1 would be going up and down 5-9 bogeys for almost a full mile. The 2X band I encountered? I locked them out with the Truelock. Now that stretch is 100% quiet.
Same goes for the night life area of Beavercreek, V1 would be chatty in A driving down the main road, but the 9500i remained queit until i pulled into the parking lots of these individual places. Once again, Truelock'ed them out- and nothing but silence.
Now, I did attempt to use the mark location feature and mark a speed trap on a road outside my complex, but for some reason it will not mark there. EVERYWHERE else that I tried, it would work- but the one place that I wanted to mark it, it wont take. I was in motion when I tried marking it, maybe that was a reason? Update: The reason why it did not alert me to the marked location is because I did not travel a mile away from the marked location. The feature is working.
Anyways, as of now the thing is SO quiet its fantastic. Although, like I said it is discomforting. Right now I am doing the posted limit until this thing comes accross some real encounters and earns my trust... Also, I love having the LED's autodim. That feature is PIMP!
A few things that I dont like about it so far is that the cord actually goes in the left side of the detector, not the right. This is kind of a bummer because if you hardwire high, now the driver has to see that ugly cord running up to the roof. Also, with the truelock feature and mark location feature mounting high to the roof isnt plosable anymore, as your fingers need to be able to hit the buttons that are located on the top.
