    Default Back From SML

Just got back from SML, was fun and played with a bunch of new toys.

I'll post more details, but the big news, we tested a protype of a new detector that is going into production this spring that beat the Spectre II/III

So it appears now that Brand X and Brand Y has beaten the Spectre!!

Tell me, is the rumor true? Someone other than Valentine with a Radar Locator?

I hope the next Spectre (IIII?) won't beat the detector.

As far as I understand, they'll have to make them totally leakproof or the cat and mouse game will go on forever. That might even be what the manufacturers and resellers want, a new unit invisible to the newest spectre always when the spectre happens to be updated.

    Default SML Testing

Prior to publishing any results, I need to check with the radar detector manufactures to confirm some items. Remember, these are protype units that were tested, not the final production units.

As an example, I just got off the phone with “Brand Y” to discuss their unit beating the Spectre. They were stunned because the unit was not designed to beat the Spectre. They did not design this new unit for the Spectre and they don’t know what the results will be once it does come out regarding this.

To answer one question, there was no detector tested that had a “rear locator” at this test.

So there's an RD out there capable of beating Spectre and the RD maker didn't intentionally make it that way? (hmmmm) I'm waiting to see this....

    Default That is correct

That is correct. Again, this was a protype and as such not FCC type accepted. It is unknown at this point what direction they are going to take..

I think that would be Spectre IV...

Stealth Micro definately has the upper edge on the detector companies, since they can just go and buy any detector on the market, and obviously the guys at Stealth Micro aren't going to sell any Spectres to some guy named "Valentine, M." or "John Doe" in Ohio...

So the only real solution is to make it leakproof.
