This has happened a few times recently with a STi:
Travelling down a 2 lane road or the interstate I've approaced a LEO parked on my side of the road with the front of the police car pointed in the direction I'm travelling (like if a LEO has someone pulled over on your side of the road).
I've visually seen the LEO before the STi alerts to radar - the STi has alerted to Ka while I'm passing the LEO and alerted to K shortly before passing the LEO. I'm guessing the LEO's had their front radar on, but not the rear.
I've got 2 questions:
1. Is this detection range normal for a STi? Not being able to detect LEO front radar until after I have a visual on the car and just about to pass the LEO?
2. Is the LEO picking up a speed reading on my car when this happens? Specifically if I'm still behind his car and approaching but not yet passed his car?
When this happened on the K band we ended up turning around and driving back towards the LEO (this time facing him) and the STi provided plenty of warning. I didn't do this with the Ka hit as that was on the interstate.
Thanks for the help!
