Default Having a Tough Time DEciding....

between the Bel Vector 995 and the Escort 8500 X50. I can get the Bel for about $269 locally and the Escort for $300 - Which one should I get? Is the Bel's software "upgradeable"? Thanks for the advice.

Wow, that's a tough one. From my own little personal tests, the V995 has slightly longer range. Both have the Spec display, but the V995 doesn't have a "threat/Expert" display.

They're both easy to program (very much alike, actually.) I do have to say that Bel's K band alert is one of the most annoying, but that's a personal opinion. As for ramp up, I prefer the X50's. It gives you a better idea as to how close you are.

Also gotta say I love my X50, though.

Personally, I like both units. But one over another, I would have to go w/ the X50. The laser sensitivity is a little better on the X50 and the ramp up on the X50 is by far the best.

One thing I like about Bel that most Escorts do not have except (9500i) is voice alert, that gives you instant feedback instead of listening to tones. The 2 units performance is very similar. Also, I don't like the X50's display being slanted towards the left instead of being straight like Bel's, this makes it easier to mount on the left side of the windshield, the (9500i has a straight view as well)

I like the additional features that comes with the Escort 8500 X50. I do have a BEL V995 and it is a great detector though

Nope, both Beltronics and Escort are producing the M4. If you DO find an S7, then it is older stock.
