    Default what is up lately???

ok so here in a nutshell is my story...... I bought my first RD about 2 years ago, an Escort X50 Red with version 5. It has started giving me self cal messages and the scanning dot glitches a lot..... no self-cal message when it does this, however I do not pick up any threat while it was glitching. I found that fact very disturbing so I went out and bought the Escort 9500i because I was very pleased with the terrific performance and countless saves my old X50 had provided me and wanted to stay with the same kind of product. I was not pleased with the poor ramp up feature; not having that slanted display that the X50 had for easy viewing; not having the specific tones for every band for easy threat identification without even looking at the RD, even though it had a voice alert feature, I was still not very impressed. Even with all this being said that wasnt the main reason for my returning the new 9500i that I had purchased from Escort directly. The kicker was that using 3 separate speed signs in my town and a LEO who always sits at the same spot along an interstate highway here in town, the 9500i just could not compare with the X50.... and the X50 is old and un-reliable!!! It still blew the 9500 outta the water when it came to alerting me sooner. I ran them never at the same time to ensure these results were true. So I decided to just get a new X50 since I knew they worked well.... Only the X50 Blue display Version 6.1 sucked ALSO!!!! It seems like its sensitivity was less than the 9500i that I had returned just one week proir!!! I have been a member of this forum for awhile and I am not new to this whole thing but I am getting very flustered by this whole not finding a detector that I am used to having... I am having to think about just leaving Escort and getting something COMPLETELY new to me.... I DO NOT want to do this however and I want thoughts from anyone on this board who can give me advice before I take a trip this summer that I will NEED a good trusted RD to help me make this 1200 mile journey I will be taking... any suggestions would be very much helpful.... Thanks

    Default rev 5

If you still have the rev.5 , send it in and get it looked at. It is one of the best of the best!

The 9500i is a weird critter. It seems to know what's real or what's not. For myself any time I've had a real threat its always done pretty good.

I also agree that the blue display is the WORST idea ever. I liked the x50 but it didn't do anything else for me.

Basically as I look at this you where in the same spot I was about 2 months ago. I was sick and tired of valentine's falseing all the time. So as per happya$$'s request I picked up an STi.

never looked back. give it a try for 30 days. I think you'll really enjoy it.

I think he was more angry at the fact that it was a 6.1 as opposed to the color of the screen, the screen color doesnt affect performance

Get a Valentine One, you shouldn't have to deal with all of the Belscort quality control issues.

dude, don't troll. I went through 4 faulty V1's including one that caught on fire. can't say I've had one Belscort do that yet.

    neither is perfect.

Let's do a poll on which radar detector company makes the most solid product with the best performance, best support, upgradeabilty and Valentine Research will win with at least 75% of the votes.

If you like a quiet detector, give the STI a try. Solid built detector, range is fantastic (better then the x50)

I will be giving one of these a try in the future. Especially how they are turning over some zombies

If you are out on the main highways without to many automatic doors in sight on your daily commutes, then I would say the v1 would serve you well.

Why? So the trolls can vote yes and feel good about their detector?

Until a die hard v1 fan gives the competition a try, their opinion on which is better is irrelevent.
