I just got back from a 450 mile road trip from IL to Memphis, TN. I used the V1 for the trip down and the STi going home.
Here is what I found...
On the trip down using the V1
In Vandalia, Illinois I picked up some really good off axis CO Ka from two parked ISP as I was heading south on N. Kennedy Blvd towards 51 south. This off axis detection was in some pretty harsh conditions too. Small hills with a lot of trees in the area. In my mind it put to rest any worries about the V1 and it's ability to detect off axis Ka.
In Harrisburg, IL I detected a local LEO running CO K band from at least 4 blocks away. Also, as I was leaving town I picked him up for about 1 mile from behind. He must have had front and rear antenna's, but I felt this was impressive range considering I was in town in less than ideal conditions.
Going home using the STi
Heading north on I55 near West Memphis I picked up ASP using CO Ka @35.5Ghz from about 1.5 miles away. The LEO was facing away from me with someone pulled over on the side of the road. I was getting intermittent Ka alerts as I was heading north right before I saw the LEO, so I think it is safe to assume it was the ASP shooting cars.
Around Clarkedale, AR I picked up a LEO running CO K band from about 2 miles away. I was REAL impressed with this alert considering I always thought my V1 owned K band. This is the best range I've ever seen on my STi with K band, but it sure was good!
In Cape Girardeau, MO I picked up some Ka @34.7Ghz at a 4 way intersection, but I wasn't able to spot the LEO. I am 99% sure this was a legit alert, but I wasn't able to confirm it visually.
