Default radar detector lifespan, how long has yours lasted!

i thought this could be a good topic on radar detector lifespan!

how long has your detector lasted without anything going wrong with it..

like chips burning out or receiver / antenna failing etc..

I've had my RX65 for just over a year, trouble free. I had a Cobra 9870 for about 2 months once before it died, and the Bel Pro 925 I got for my mom failed after a couple months, but Bel seems to have fixed it satisfactorily.

RadioShack X/K detector: 3-4 years, no problems (1989-1992?)

Uniden Stalker: 4-5 years, no problems (1992-1997)

Bel Vector STi: 3 years, developed nasty falsing habit, especially after a couple years (1997-2000). Had my friend crush it with his Camaro.

Valentine 1, 1.7 version: 4 years (2000-2004) but in '01 it started getting a POST error after the battery needed a jumpstart in my car. It still worked other than the "E" code so I just lived with it until I upgraded to...

...Valentine 1, 1.8 version: 1 year and counting, no issues yet.

I had my Cobra 9870 for about 6 months before I sold it and got the V1. I've had my V1 since May of '04. No problems, haven't upgraded it yet.

I've had my V1 since '01, no issues.
I still have the Passport in my sig.
The Escort in my sig was working fine when I threw it away in '03.

I have never had a RD stop working or break.
Unfortunately the Cops technology is changing so fast you're pretty much stuck buying a new RD before your old one even has a chance
    to wear out
