    Default Concealed for Virginia

Today, where I live near the VA border I spliced the wires on my cigarette lighter. I ran 2 wires up the side panel to the visor from the cigarette lighter on my dash. The wires are hidden, I took another cigarette lighter from another vehicle and wire it up neatly up in the visor. I got me a cd holder for the visor and i have got my passport with the coiled cord wrapped around the front of it for the dim display to be completely invisible and the front is open with the cloth part of the cd holder wrapped up on the sides except for the little opening in the front, i'll have a picture up soon. When outside the vehicle no matter how hard you look, you cannot see the detector 8)

VA LEO's will have Spectre soon, see this post: http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=24254

The only way to conceal a detector in VA is get an Bel STi and make sure it can't be seen.

How will your switch protect you from Spectre?

It will in this scenario: A LEO is down the road using radar and Spectre. justinkk2005 receives an alert from his detector from the LEO using radar. jusinkk2005 then turns off his detector before he is in range of the Spectre.

IMO, not a very good way to protect yourself from Spectre but it will work sometimes. Some people in Canada have claimed to use this method for years before STi came out and they say they did not get caught.

Knowing my luck I'll switch it back on, not knowing Spectre is tracking me from another direction.

    Take if from a Canuck.

Get the STI. Not only is it a great detector you'll feel much much more comfortable not having to be all paranoid switching off a dectable unit.

I'm bad I leave my STI on all the time. Driving next to the OPP!

It's a great feeling. To be worried about the spectre means you spend more time thinking about cops and less time thinking how to get the girl in the back 8)
