Default Yea I know, yet another hardwire question

Okay If I went and bought the add a fuse at advance or somewhere, could I use that along with a phone cable and use the red as the hot wire and hook it into the add a fuse then ground the green out somewhere else?

This is how I did it FWIW.

Pinch the red wire under the fuse for your radio (you may want to use an inline fuse if there isn't one already with the hard wire kit).

Connect the black wire to a ground screw under the dash

    Open a beer.

    Drink the beer.

    Smile.

RJ-12 (phone cable) is rated 150v at 1.5amps. Normal phone line cable is rated AWG 22, 24, or 26.

Obviously your running 12v but not sure what your amp pull would be on your RD.

I personally would not do it because its not stranded wire. The phone wire could easily snap and over time because of vibration. Just pick up some AWG 22 stranded wire at the auto store..

Why would you want to use a phone cable instead of the included wires? Just trying to get an idea of what your doing.
