Between all these RD's...
Couple months back I was fully on the Bel RX-65 side, and I didn't change my mind when the STi came out, but I had to put off purchasing it because I also had to put off purchasing a car while attending school...
I'm purchasing Civic Coupe this upcoming week, and I had plans on making it as protected as I can.
Originally I was going to do:
3) Blinder M-20 + and extra head for the back
4) Equalizer VF2 flashback
5) Possibly Veil too
No I'm not a bad driver, or drive fast...but I live 5 mins away from COPHELL (my fellow DFW and Texans probably figured out where I'm referring to; especially Arashi666) and I'm going to have to go through the full COPHELL city limits 7 days a week...on top of that they're adding a bunch of photoradar around the area as well
But now things have changed...
The Escort 9500i, while it claims groundbreaking technology, certainly has major flaws (especially on their number 1 claimed statement about TrueLock)...the Ramp isn't great either and it costs $450. Yes it has potential, but at this point we don't know much of how anything will work...sure USB port is great, but whats the use if you can't do anything with it at the moment.
STi has the same price...but I don't need (or hope I don't need) it to be stealthy at the moment.
Bel and Escort are now pretty much same company, but neither the X50 or the RX65 have dropped in price...while they are great for right now, I'm curious of the future with the newer higher end RD's already coming out.
V1, while great with arrows, certainly costly with the upgrades...
Blinder has came out with the new M-25 and M-45, but I think all members will agree that they are a little way overpriced.
What's worse is their performance (according to GOL tests) compared to all the hype and claims. Don't get me wrong, the results are great, but correct me if I'm wrong but they were outdone by Laser Interceptor, a product which I hadn't even heard of (less of a hype maybe?) nor do I know the price of...
I'm also suspicious of these active photo flash-backs for several reasons such as: how legal they are, if they will still block out if the photo is reversed/negative, and the cost for a product that certainly there are no enthusiast tests performed like the RD's and LJ's by the wonderful guys here and GOL.
So that leaves the good old Veil and NavAlert as the only two products with a good future ahead of them, something I definitely need in CopHell and metroplex.
A part of me says to go with 9500i and hope for the best while never using the TrueLock feature  but then it makes me wonder what I'm exactly paying the extra cash for (it'll be the 3rd digital speedometer in my civic...), so it leaves it with 2 other good features which are the speed sensitivity for volume and detection.
If anyone would like to clear up somethings and help me out, it would be greatly appreciated, because at the moment I'm thinking of driving without a RD or an LJ until some things are cleared up.
If I'm not mistaking, the tests are going on this weekend, correct? It'll be intresting to know the results on the RD's, but I believe they won't be testing any new LJ's...
