In simple terms: They 'leak'. In other words, they set off high-end detectors simply because of their 'poor' design.
So many people on here don't like them because many of us own high-end detectors that cobras cause to false. Often times to make things worse the Cobra's cause falsing on Ka band, which really scares the *BEEP* out of many users on here.
Not to mention if you live in an area with a lot of Cobras... they just get down right annoying.
Not only that, but for their price, a Whistler would be a much better detector for the people to own, so if you are looking for a detector under 200bucks look for a high-end Whistler or a low-end Bel... just don't go with Cobra.
thanks for the quick response, i swear i posted this like a minute ago
But just to be fair, old Unidens (no longer produced thank God!) leaked as bad, if not worse, than Cobras do. I picked up a Uniden from almost half a mile away once!
i just purchases a Pro-78, does this one detect a lot of cobras on the street?
whats that pic supposed to mean?
Cobras are crap. Which is why we tend to call them Crapras around here.
First of all, they're about the worst performing detectors, period. You'd get better protection by duct taping a ferret to your windshield.
Second, they emit signals that set off other people's detectors. Ferrets don't.
Lastly, they're overpriced for what you get. Whistlers are cheaper and 1000x better in every way. So are ferrets.
(Ok, got a bit carried away on the ferret thing. )
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!
If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?
