    Default Mounting upside down?

I've occasionally toyed with the idea of a DIY visor mount that would leave my detector hanging upside down. Is that a bad idea? Does upside down mounting have some negative consequence on reception capabilities that I am not considering?

Nope, no negative consequences. In fact, some detectors like the STi allow you to invert the display for mounting that way...

Yup, I use my STi mounted that way, with the inverted display. Definitely a nice feature.

Well, one thing to consider is that if you mount the RD upside down, it will be detecting dnab X, dnab K, dnab aK, and resal. If your local police dept. operates their guns upside down, they will be producing these signals and your upside-down detector will pick up just fine.

Just kidding... the RD will work fine upside down, except that the display will be, you guessed it, upside down. Unless you have an STi or other model that lets you invert the display.

LOL, good; I was just concerned there was some element of polarization or anything else beyond my understanding that would affect an RD upside down.

You wouldn't believe how much trouble I had in convincing a person that a regular 7200RPM hard drive stuck in an enclosure should not be upside down while in use....

For that matter, this was the same guy who once told me "I can feel it resisting when I move the drive really fast while it's on!"

*sigh*, some people don't deserve to have shiny electronic gadgets
