Default Experiences with the X50 and V1

This thread was not started for a bash session but to share with all of you on this outstanding forum my experiences with both detectors. After of few months of owning both I can make this real simple, sweet, and right to the point. In terms of radar performance they are both identical. Falsing does occur more on the V1 on K band and X band (if not on L mode on X band). The one clear dominant area the V1 has is laser detection. This is the only area that I see the V1 excelling. If one has a laser jammer then this is not a big deal in my opinion. If I had to choose TODAY I would feel comfortable with either one and that is the honest truth. BOTH are EXCELLENT products!

as i've seen on some videos the escort seems to have a faster alert tone!

where as the v1 seems progressive, ie the escort strenght goes up fast where as the v1's slower!

your right both are extremely good detectors people tend to find one or the other suits them better!

i find that both have their unique qualitys !

its hard to why what it is about them but there is something special about them both!

I have been riding with them both for the passed month, the only thing I can see different (havn't tested X band), is that the v1 has its wider horns which gives it better detection of off axis radar. With this however, come the mass amounts of falsing, so its a toss up what you prefer.

Ran into a KA sign last week. Straight on x50 alerted a second before the v1. Driving away, the v1 alert to the KA 2 seconds longer then the x50

Driving on the road next to ths sign....

    X50 - no alert
    V1 - 3 braps on KA, signal strength 2.

On a moving constant on K band source, both alerted at the same time on 1, x50 beat the valentine by a second on the other, and the valentine beat the x50 by a second on the last.

Laser, I tested this out with my osprey, although a pre-warning is NOT likely at all on the x50, I can't say its very likely on a V1 either. More of a chance with the v1 for sure, but when your car is getting hit with laser, the x50 will alert you. When the v1 is being hit with laser, the v1 will alert you.

This truely shows a few interesting facts. Before I would recommend the v1 for the highway and the x50 for the city, now it just depends what you are looking for. Do you want the arrows, and rear antenna for 100$ more with the wider feild of view but w/that increases falsing?

Both are D*MN good detectors, people that are still doing the top 3 bashing really are proving that they have never tried the other competition before.

Yeah I completely forgot the wide axis. You are right people that bash the big three never owned all three. I love the X50 cause it stays in check. It is a good kid

3 things I like about the v1, that the x50 just can't compare to.
Arrows, better REAR detection, and the greater chance of detecting laser from another car.

I have both setup in my car right now. Both are high, and far enough away not to cause interference. When my V1 is in Advanced logic mode, it seems to hinder sensitivity and range. That's one thing I really dislike. You have to sacrifice Range for quietness.

With some K band testing, and brief KA testing, (with the radar ahead)- I have to agree with the previous posters and say that detection is Identical, no matter what mode the x50 is in, and if the V1 is in A or Logic (not advanced logic) mode.

Only true better rear detection on the v1 would be KA band.

I would like to do this at our testing, block the rear sensor on the v1, and I bet you the front sensor would still pick it up.

Two down and one to go...I have had two of the big three and after today I will have the third. If Bel or Escort come out with arrows Valentine is in trouble. I am not sure how long the V1 patend is for, but it is a wonderful feature. When you are travelling and get an alert and you don't have to be watching the front and back, that is a wonderful feature in adition to the Laser. Highway V1 everyday x50. Next in Line Bel, my first one. I like the fact that it already has KU which may be a threat in the future.

For the first time ever, I really got to see my X50 peform today. I was hitting all the sweet spots where cops were using constant on. One was on the freeway I got detection with good distance, as I was looking around it kept beeping, than started to get louder, I knew this was NOT a false so i slowed down to speed limit, a few minutes later i spot a cop in my rearview mirror with constant on, he passed me and I continued to let him distance as my x50 was still going off(K Band). After he sped up way ahead I lost signal so i stepped on it and I could tell when i was drawing close because my x50 gave alert and I could barely see him way way up in front of me, keep in mind my guess is he was using radar from the front so the X50 did extremely well picking up radar that was bouncing off a freeway sign. My other experiences were in the city for the first time ever!!!! I was driving down pacific ave(Hwy 7, towards mount ranier) 35mph speed limit in the area i was. I got a beep, and than i noticed this was not a usual spot, so i reset mileage, as the x50 continued to beep louder and louder I had my eyes wide open looking everywhere, where was he? In front of me heading the opposite direction. I got up to full alert with him just passing me with .6 mile warning, this was not including the distance he traveled to me, so it had to be more than .6. The second experience I got about another .6 mile warning, unmarked car, I noticed him as he passed by, he was also using constant on. After he passed me I saw his lights go on and I knew somebody else was getting pulled over. After I got to the Hair Salon and they were closed I turned around, yet again I got about .5 to .6 mile warning with his radar facing away! Likely to be bouncing radar off a road sign, as i passed by it was the same car with constant on i got a warning on earlier, he had a white porsche carrera pulled over. I go to another hair salon and get my hair cut. As i pull out I start heading back home and get a warning with yet again another .6 mile warning, it was one of the unmarked cars from earlier running constant on. Did I mention as i passed this car both times he looked at me, not sure if he saw the detector and he knew he was setting the **** off like mad or he was just watching radar and observing traffic. Today was definitely a great day for me and my detector, I have never got a day as good as this, Sometimes i feared my detector was not picking up anything, but now I know if a cop is running radar, my detector is going to pick it up. Now its time to hope for laser on the freeway, than i can test my x50 on that and my new laser shield thanks to RadarRoy. Btw I also painted my screws black. LOL!

    Default It's a beautiful thing...

The wonderful thing about RD's is they stop you from getting tickets you might get by not paying attention. Are you using the expert mode??
