i know. i'm just trying to increase my odds. there is very little enforcement in kansas anyway. runs hot and cold. i got my first escort in 1985 and have been running radar detectors ever since so i'm pretty good with traffic radar. even when i was speeding, with radar, i've skated. probably because of doubts.

with laser, the cops seems to be so matter-of-fact and that's what scares me. in the video, he was more than happy to ticket a car 4 deep without even first visually determining that the car was actually speeding. a quick blip on the target, didn't try to recheck the speed, turned his head so he lost visual when there were at least a half-dozen vehicles all around all together....and then he tries to say "maybe your were trying to close the gap?" what a crock. if that were you, you'd be livid if your laser alert went off in the crowd and the cop plucked you out of line.

Maybe the laser doesn't lie but that a lot of crap if you are four cars deep and not passing anyone and you get a ticket? At 900 feet? This has opened my eyes. I've had two laser tickets in my life
Problem with the video shown and viewing it back is, that is NOT the actual image magnified through the scope of the laser that the trooper was looking though.....at 900feet the width of a laser beam is about 3ft wide and with a scope and crosshairs targetting a specific vehicle, is accurate.

That is a huge mis-perception from seeing all these videos for a defence etc, does not take into account the scope and magnification of said scope. Nor can it ever be in the exact location where the laser was used on a vehicle.

I would maybe consider an effort towards similiar styles of MV in the area, that the traffic (namely a transport) passed by thus obstructing the view of the trooper, while having his head turned, thus not constant site of the vehicle
good point, i did realize we're not looking down the scope, we don't see what he sees. so after all this, from what you can tell, do you think the van was speeding? why do you think he skipped everyone else on the road and picked on a vehicle in the back, do you believe he was doing a visual estimation first?

fyi, i have had cops put the radar on the car in front of me, get it's speed, see that i was closing on the car in front of me, and then pull me over and give me a warning for going "+x faster than the car in front of me that was no quite speeding." i had a laugh (inside).

Happened to me near Globe, AZ a few years back. I was coming down a hill in our silver WIndstar. A gray Dodge Caravan passed us. PSL was 65, and I was doing maybe 70. Saw the state trooper on the side flip his lights on. I told my wife, "Let me pull off so he can nab this guy."

I almost passed out when he pulled in behind me and ticketed me for 82 in a 65. I tried to explain, but he wouldn't hear anything of it. Native American guy.

On top of that, the judge tried to pile a ****load of BS fines on top of it for being an out-of-state driver. I ended up paying the basic fines ($200) and a driver's course to keep the points off my license ($180). So a cop's SCREW UP cost me almost $400 and 4 hours of my time.

    Not that I'm bitter....

Watching that clip, it looks like he's targeting the Van in between the truck and the other car, but when you listen to the tone on the PL3, it seems to lock on just as he finishes rounding the bend.

There is no way he got that 2nd van . . I think he got the first van or he did a bunch of panning w/ the gun. As soon as that car rounds the bend he's out of the scope. The cop probably got driver side light. . and than as it came around and finished the turn had the middle of the car at a closer distance thus making the speed higher. IMO the leo is the dumbass in this one.

After watching that video, what ever happened to cops doing a tracking history?

Sadly, many times nowadays, they don't even bother. They just shoot everyone. Like those LEOs that park on bridges and just shoot anything that pops over the edge.
