rd on the floor picked up signal very well....Why is this and if my x50 has this much sensitivity why are people so serious about how and where its mounted?

When you're dealing with possible IO, every amount of sensitivity counts
Also, there may be times when, even with CO, the situation isn't exactly in favor of your detector. Here, too, every amount of sensitivity is crucial
True, I guess laser would be a no go too.....
But why does the rd pick radar up so good sitting on my car floor and seat....
It reflects like crazy inside the car...Originally Posted by Stealth 795
Now someone needs to test and see if a Spectre can pick up an X50 sitting on the floor.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

When I was in high school, fellow classmates thought that the Escorts with the 'needle meters' were extra sensetive because they would also pick up radar from the floorboard :P .Originally Posted by Stealth 795

Needle meters are VERY cool. Maybe not the most USEFUL data readout, but still cool.
Because radar waves bounce around off rocks, cement, cars, etc.Originally Posted by Stealth 795
that is why you can pick up faint signals before and after a strong alert that seem to come and go.
Traveling through VA?
I've never put my detector on the floor, but during the day (years ago) I put it in an empty DIN and it still had decent range. I only did this on my day trips in/out of the RADAR unfriendly neighboring state of VA.
