    Default laser detection...so what?

I have said this before, but in light of all the rumors of the sml 2005 tests regarding the great ability of the v1 to detect laser, I wanted to say it again:

In my humble opinion, all a radar/laser detector is going to tell you is beep beep beep...there is laser, and more likely than not, its too late.
What is more important I believe is having a laser jammer.

I am an X50 fan. I have a laser jammer, so i am happy with that. I really dont seem to understand the purpose of having any detector without a jammer.

No hits against the v1 at all...but without a laser jammer...does it help that much more in avoiding tickets?

aye! The V1 has alerted me on one occassion and the officer was targeting the car infront of me.

i love my blinder & veil but I would rather not have to use them. in this case I was alerted way ahead of time slowed down then the officer got around to shooting my car which wasy entirely to late!

take the power of the v1 in laser detection and combine that with the power of veil and you pretty much have a laser jammer much cheaper. With veil I have really found no need for a jammer mainly because. I have either taken off what was chrome or shiny on my car or I have veil the you know what out of it If i couldnt get it off. I drive and older car so I dont mine taking stuff off of it. Still the odds are you will more then likely get shot with radar then laser or pop. Unless your in Ohio. I have had some pretty direct hits with laser on the road and still have had enough time to slow down before the cop got a reading. Most of the time somebody else is being lasered before I get lasered and I get the warning. if i had to go for another good laser detector it would be the whistler because I own the pro 73 and some of the earlier models and whister has figured out laser for sure. Better then Rx 65 or Passport. Reason I say this is my brother owns a Rx 65 and my uncle owns the new passport x50. We have borrowed are units before and we all agree minus the V1 the whistler is really awesome in laser detection. For a middle of the line detector whistler sure does carry top of the line laser detection minus the V1. But of course some people will find it hard to believe becaus some are so engrained that you have to fork out. $$$$$ for great laser detection. I have fork out the $$$ for the v1 but If i just had the whistler 73 for laser detection I would still be pretty happy. Sometimes I even swap out the v1 for the cool pro just to look at a different unit.

Funny you say this about the whistler. I have an old super wideband whistler that was absolutely great in Lazer detection when I was using it. The radar part was not so good so I bought a Bell. I think your on to something here. Now if whistler could boost it's radar detection a little more... 8)

You still pay for what you get and the Whistlers arent performing like the top 3 but they are performing really good for RDs under 200$

Trust me the whistler for laser detection in my opinion is tops. I have had extensive experience with laser being shot at me with the top units and whistler has figured laser out. But hey you can believe what you want to. if you dont have a whistler its no sweat off my back. I will admit radar detection on the whistler is fair better then cobra in my opinion but not as good as the top 3. But I have never found one instance where whistler hasent given me way more then enough time. As far as laser is concern their are several times where I will be coming around a corner and get a laser alert before i even see the officer. Whistler was picking up bounce off from other cars and signs i guess. For under 200$ try buying one I think you will be very very suprised at just how well it really does. One of my buddys that I hang around with allot he owns a rx 65 he was really surpised when i got a laser warning and the officer wasnt even in sight. Of course v1 beats whistler out hands down but I get allot of falses on laser with v1 though. With whistler I hardley ever get any. O well thats just my humble opinion. Take it or leave it.
